It's that time of year again when we all start to feel the dryness and see the flakiness that the cold winter brings. So lets talk about why it happens, how to prevent it and my favorite products to re-hydrate your skin and keep it glowing without breaking the bank!
What causes moisture loss in the winter?
2 Words.... Dry Air!
How are we staying warm here in N.E Ohio? We have our furnaces and heaters turned up! We are essentially living in our clothes dryer and what does it do? It removes the moisture from our clothes and it does that same to our skin.
What can we do to prevent it?
Turn down the shower temperature.
Pat your skin dry and immediately apply your favorite moisturizer or oils.
Use a humidifier in the room you spend the most time in.
Use products that are rich in Ceramides. Ceramides help create a permeability barrier to lock moisture into your skin.
Don't be afraid to layer your products especially in the evening.
Use Sunscreen!!!!
What should I use??? That's going to be a different answer for each of us, but I
can give you a few of my favorites.
